Digital Radiography

Pewaukee Veterinary Service recently upgraded to digital radiography technology for all of its x-ray imaging needs.

Now, in less than four seconds, we can take a digital x-ray of your pet’s injury or area of concern without having to develop the x-ray film. Once the digital image is complete, the images are instantly routed to a high-end computer server so we can review the images from any computer within in the hospital. Digital technology also allows us to magnify the image or change its contrast in order to examine the images in greater detail.

Should your pet require referral to a specialty service, these images are in an industry standard format that can be forwarded anywhere and retain their full diagnostic quality. The setup that we have installed is very similar in quality to the imaging that a human radiologist would use at a hospital. Additionally, it is very easy to burn these images onto a CD for you to take home.

At left are two digital radiographs. The top one shows a bladder with bladder stones inside. The bottom one shows the same bladder post surgical removal of the stones. Click on either radiograph to view a larger image.
