As we have been doing the "Pet of the Month" for a little over a year now, it has become a regular part of PVS. So regular in fact, that I didn't realize how much some of our frequent clients look forward to the new installment every month. In January, we revisited an old favorite from the past year on the website but did not allocate a spot for it at the front counter. I was pleased to hear comments during the past month that it was missed. For February, I asked one special family who noticed its absence if they would like to share their dog's story. The following is a narrative by their own "Brittany":

"My name is Brittany, I'm a 15 year old Cocker Spaniel. I came into my momma's life when I was eleven weeks old. She bought me at a pet store. I'm a very spoiled pooch as I have two beds, two blankets and I get lots of treats every day. I had a lot of toys, but I'm not interested in playing anymore. I'm starting to slow down. So they donated my toys to HAWS so that other dogs can enjoy them! Not all dogs have it as good as I do. I used to love to chase my toys or tug on socks. Now I enjoy sleeping. I can't go on long walks anymore because I have a bad knee. I take a pain pill to help me through my day.
I do miss my walks. I also have Cushing's disease, but it is kept under control with another weekly pill. My Momma and Poppa were scared when I first got sick and they didn't know what was wrong. But I'm doing good now. My eyes have gotten cloudy, but I can still see. My hearing is not so good anymore, but at least I can't hear the thunder! I have a good life. Everyone I meet loves me. I get what I want, which is mostly treats or scraps. (Don't tell Dr. Randy!) And I'm told at least ten times a day that I'm cute (which I am). Momma and Poppa sure do love me. What a good spoiled life I have."
